A rite of spring and a summer destination on Saturday mornings, farmers markets bring life and add soul to communities. Here in St. Louis, the farmers market movement has taken off and is gaining momentum. These busy hubs are quickly becoming as much social as they are are commercial. All kinds of people from all walks of life are coming out of their homes to see what the brouhaha is all about. In the process they are meeting their neighbors, running into friends, and rediscovering the marketplace.
Take note: It’s useless to take a traditional shopping list, as market stands offer only what is fresh and ripe. (No, you won’t have to put your peaches in a brown paper bag!) I urge you to go with an open mind, engage the growers, create something new for your table, and Eat It, St. Louis!
